Edible fake blood recipe. Tried and tested.

Here is my version of a fake blood recipe. It's the only successful one I've made so far and has lasted for months. It hardens but with some slight warming it turns back into a gloopy dark blood mix.

What you will need:
Corn flour
Red food colouring
Blue food colouring
Green food colouring
Three parts golden syrup
One part water
Chocolate syrup
Cocoa powder
Mixing bowls
Large table spoon
Plastic tub
Mixing whisk

Step by step:
1) Start by taking your large table spoon and mixing one part water to three parts golden syrup. Depending on how much you need you will have to double/triple this rule but always stick to the rule of one part water to three parts golden syrup. I used cold water to mix with however, I assume using slightly warm water may make the mixing process easier as it would loosen up the golden syrup. I wouldn't advise using hot or very warm water, luke warm or cold would work best.

2) Next you can work on the colour, add blue, red, and green food colouring drop by drop mixing between each colour to ensure you get the right shade of blood. To make the blood look more realistic go for a darker shade of red. This is where the chocolate syrup came into the equation, I decided that to get the shade darker and less transparent I would add a little bit of chocolate syrup. Stirring is crucial! Make sure you stir between every new addition to the mix. It can be tough but hang in it.

3) Once you have your chosen amount and preferred colour, use corn flour to thicken the mixture. Add this slowly as you don't want to end up with it being impossible to stir. Again, this is a matter of choice, I chose to make mine quite thick and gloopy because I was working on set with wounds and needed large quantities of thick, older blood.

4) After you've perfected your fake blood recipe, pour the mixture into a plastic tub and put the lid on. It can be stored at room temperature, if the mixture is stored for a long time, it may need to be slighty warmed and stirred to go back to it's workable state.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy making your home made fake blood! 👹
